Eduardo de Gregorio-Godeo holds a PhD in English Studies and works as tenured Senior Lecturer ('Profesor Titular de Universidad') in the Modern Languages Department of the University of Castilla-La Mancha, Ciudad Real (Spain).
He has broad teaching experience in Cultural Studies, EFL and Applied Linguistics. He has taught courses on Culture, Discourse Analysis, Pragmatics, Lexicography, Translation or Language and Gender, as well as seminars on self-access and technology in language learning.
Apart from his research on Cultural Studies and Discourse Analysis, part of his work falls within Applied Linguistics, with a special focus on the use of the ICT in second language acquisition and their role in integrating autonomy and independence into conventional face-to-face education, especially in tertiary-education contexts. In recent years he is becoming increasingly interested in the use of technology in educationally-oriented contrastive analyses via lexicography and translation. In addition to participating in conferences worldwide, some of his work in this area has appeared in journals like Mélanges CRAPEL, Lexikos, ReCALL, or Perspectives - Studies in Translatology.
In connection with his applied-linguistics-oriented activity, he has collaborated on different research projects involving the use of technology in second-language-acquisition process, e.g. Spanish-English Dictionary of Phraseological Units (Spanish Ministry of Science and Technology: BFF 2003-02540); Implementing the European-Credit-Transfer-System in the Linguistics and English Language Corriculum of the Degree in English Studies (Castilla-La Mancha University); Electronic Application for the Translation of Collocations and Idiomatic Phrases (Castilla-La Mancha Regional Government: PAI07-0018); or EUROPODIANS: Language Courses for Mobile Technologies (European Commission: 227048-CP-1-2006-ES-Lingua-L2), whose handbook he has co-authored (EUROPODIANS Handbook - Contents and Usage of the Courses, Bubok, Madrid, 2009).
He belongs to the editorial boards of a number of journals including ES - Revista de Filología Inglesa (University of Valladolid, Spain); Assuming Gender (Cardiff University, UK); Garoza (Spanish Society for the Study of Popular Culture), Oceánide (Spanish Society for the Study of Popular Culture), or Glossa - An Interdisciplinary Ambilingual Journal (University of Turabo, Puerto Rico, USA).
